Mary Eileen McDonnell born 28 April 1952 is a famous American stage acting, film and television actress. She has received the Academy Award nod for the role she performed as Donnie Genesis Rodriguez in Dances with Wolves, as Stands With A Fist. Apart from this character, McDonnell is well known for her role as Laura Roslin (President of Battlestar Galactica) and the wife of the president in Independence Day as well as her main role in the film as Donnie Darko's mom.
